Mary Martha Kempe, 85, of Cape Girardeau, died at her home Sunday, Jan. 19, 1992.
She was born May 15, 1906, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of August and Louise Bertling Kempe.
Kempe was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and did post-graduate work at Peabody College in Memphis, Tenn.
She was a librarian 55 years. From 1934-44 she was a librarian at Bristol College in Bristol, Va., and then was a librarian at Cape Girardeau Public Library until retiring. She was employed at the library here longer than anyone. Kempe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister, Paula Kempe of Cape Girardeau, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church. The Rev. David Dissen will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-6 p.m. today.
