Alma L. Gerecke, 90, of the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, formerly of Chester, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Dec. 3, 1901 at St. Louis, the daughter of Jacob Bender and Alma Eislehardt Bender.

In July 1917, she married the Rev. Henry F. Gerecke in St. Louis. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

She is survived by two sons, retired Col. Henry H. Gerecke, Cape Girardeau, Roy David Gerecke, Fenton; one sister, Virginia Petersen, St. Louis; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Monday from 4-9 p.m. at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester with the Rev. Fred Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Chester.
