EAST PRAIRIE -- Lona M. Portwood, 89, of East Prairie, died Friday, March 13, 1992 at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 12, 1902 near Cypress, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Lula B. Campbell Gore.

She had lived in Mississippi County since 1949.

On April 11, 1925, she married George Portwood. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1955.

She is survived by one son, Carl Joseph Shoaf, Lake of the Ozarks; one sister, Tellamae Turner, Cypress, Ill.; one brother, Luther Gore, Boles, Ill.; one grandson; and two great grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Bill Dunning, pastor of the Free Pentecostal Church in East Prairie, officiating. Burial will in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti.
