Mary Kathleen Outland, 82, of Springfield, died Saturday, May 30, 1992 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born July 12, 1909 in Portageville, daughter of John and Minnie Lee Thompson Tant.

She married Finis Outland in 1956. He preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1989.

She was the owner of Kathleen's Beauty Shop, Kathleen's Beauty School and Kathleen's Knit Shop in Cape Girardeau, and served as past president of the Cape Girardeau Beautician's Association.

She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Red Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Don R. Pettigrew of Springfield; two daughters, Peggy Fee of Cape Girardeau and Margaret Greer of Guntown, Miss.; one brother, Harold Tant, Hartford, Ill.; two sisters, Ann Massey of Portageville and Maecel Dorris of Hayti; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
