CHARLESTON -- Eli Crews, 79, of Charleston died Monday, June 1, 1992, at John J. Pershing Veteran's Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Nov. 8, 1912, in Ballard County, Ky., the son of Jesse and Lucy Anderson Crews. On Oct. 24, 1953, he married Lucille Washburn, who survives of the home.

He lived in Misissippi County most of his life, where he was manager of Martin Oil Company until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Charleston and was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army.

Other survivors include three sons, Tony Trousdale and Scott Crews, both of Charleston, and Ray Parker of rural Bertrand; a brother, Ransey Crews of Paducah, Ky.; four sisters, Ella Douglas, Louetta Hammer and Kathleen Stoner, all of Pamona, Calif. and Emma Gaunt of San Dimas, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Gerald Penn will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
