OLMSTED, Ill. -- Mary Elizabeth Ledbetter Smith, 82, of Olmsted, died Saturday, June 13, 1992 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill. She was born Dec. 18, 1909 at Mt. Carmel, Ill., the daughter of Jacob and Hattie Whiteman Doane. She married Revis O. Ledbetter on Nov. 3, 1928. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1956. She then married Rowland M. Smith on Feb. 29, 1964. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1971...

OLMSTED, Ill. -- Mary Elizabeth Ledbetter Smith, 82, of Olmsted, died Saturday, June 13, 1992 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.

She was born Dec. 18, 1909 at Mt. Carmel, Ill., the daughter of Jacob and Hattie Whiteman Doane.

She married Revis O. Ledbetter on Nov. 3, 1928. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1956. She then married Rowland M. Smith on Feb. 29, 1964. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1971.

She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski and was employed as a nurse at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Survivors are two daughters, Mary Jane Thornton of Mounds, Ill. and Stella Mae Britt of Jackson, Mich.; two sons, Rev. Alfred Benton Ledbetter of Sikeston and Revis Eugene Ledbetter of Cormarant, Miss.; one brother, Floyd Doane of Belleville, Ill.; one sister, Helen Larrison of Metropolis, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, one step-brother and a step-sister.

Friends may call at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Ill. after 5 p.m. today and Tuesday until 1 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski with the Rev. Loran Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery.
