Perry A. "Fonso" Howell, 87, 611 South West End Boulevard, died Tuesday, June 23, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Dec. 27, 1904, at Zalma, son of John C. and Elizabeth Jane Fulk Howell. He and Ruby Allen were married July 6, 1976, at Tilsit. She died May 5, 1987.

Howell was a stitcher for a shoe manufacturer, and member of Red Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene Howell of Caddo Mills, Texas, Gerald Howell of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Erlene Iezzi of Pittsburgh, Pa., Sue Hackney of Papillion, Neb., Faye Seifrit of Dayton, Ohio; a stepson, Walter Lessley of Pinckneyville, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, two half brothers and three half sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
