Funeral service for Robert L. "Bob" Cook, 2550 Marvin, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. John Owen will officiate, with burial in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery near Marble Hill.

Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Cook, 68, died Thursday, July 9, 1992, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of the Rev. Robert and Mary Jane Hanners Cook Sr. He and Iva Dell Upchurch were married Jan. 14, 1948, at Gravel Hill.

Since 1954 he has been associated with Rickard-Harrison Construction Co., which later became Rickard Construction Co. He has been owner of the company since 1982, and was primarily involved in bridge building. He has built bridges in Cape Girardeau, Perry and Mississippi counties, for the Cape Special Road District, State Highway Department and Byrd Township.

Cook was a member of First Baptist Church, deacon more than 35 years, past Sunday School teacher, and was a Royal Ambassador leader more than 30 years.

He was a charter member of Breakfast Optimist Club, member of National Federation of Independent Business, and had been active in Chamber of Commerce and Boy Scouts. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Russell Cook of Martin, Tenn., Jon Cook of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Margaret Rigg of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Raymond Cook of Burfordville, Kenneth Cook of Marble Hill, Lee Cook of Camp Verde, Ariz., Truman Cook of Sun City, Ariz.; four sisters, Beula Reynolds of Gordonville, Mildred Johnson of Jackson, Betty Upchurch of Marble Hill, Ruth Drennan of Knob Lick, and six grandchildren.
