CAIRO, Ill. -- William "Ed" Campbell, 75, of Cairo, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1992, at his home.

He was born July 4, 1917 in Racine, Ohio, the son of Frank and Marie Pickens Campbell.

He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Cairo Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Campbell of Cairo; one daughter, Virginia McAfee, Mt. Pulaski, Ill.; one sister, Mayme St. Arbor, Bardwell, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Friends may call at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery at Dongola, Ill.
