BLANCHE V. REED

SCOTT CITY -- Blanche Virginia Reed, 89, of Flora, Ill., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1992, at Flora Nursing Center.

She was born Feb. 17, 1903, in Mayfield, Ky., daughter of James Robert and Mary Elizabeth Clark Smithson. She married Thomas Edward Reed Sept. 23, 1922. He died Dec. 22, 1970.

Formerly of Commerce and Glen Allen, she was a member of Old Trace Creek Baptist Church at Glen Allen.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Reed of Rodgers, Ark., Gene Reed of Highland, Calif., Harold Reed of Glen Allen; a daughter, Lois Corbitt of Flora; a half brother, J.R. Smithson of Lakeland, Fla.; a half sister, Mildred Minton of Smiths Grove, Ky.; 19 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, daughter and grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Charles Butler will officiate, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Saturday.
