DELTA -- Funeral service for Willard Wayne Smith of Delta will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Revs. Kenny Martin and Glen Golden will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Home at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.

Smith, 76, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1992, at his home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1916, at Delta, son of Levi David and Ora Hartsell Smith. He and Willie Marie Birkman were married March 21, 1936.

Smith was a fireman with Cottonbelt Railroad from 1942-46. He then farmed, retiring in 1982. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Delta, was treasurer the past 20 years, and was a past member of Delta School Board.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Smith of Double Oak, Texas; a daughter, Sandra Graviett of Sedgewickville; two brothers, Levi Smith Jr. of Delta, Bill Smith of Advance; a sister, Lucille Valleau of St. Peters; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
