Gerald M. Schaefer, 64, of Ft. Smith, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1992 at Ft. Smith Hospital. He was a retired vice president of Arkansas Best Freight. Survivors include his wife, Kay Baskin Schaefer of Ft. Smith; three daughters Terri Hewitt, Charleston, Ark., Becky Baird, Little Rock, Ark., Patti Sharum, Barling Ark.; one son, Gerald Schaefer II, Charleston, Ark.; one sister, Judy Griffaw, Cape Girardeau; one brother, James Schaefer, Jerseyville, Ill.; and six grandchildren...

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Ft. Smith with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Ft. Smith.

Friends may call today at Edwards Funeral Home in St. Smith with rosary at 7 p.m.
