MARIE MURPHY

CHARLESTON -- Marie Murphy, 87, of Bertrand Retirement Home, formerly of Wyatt and Charleston, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 10, 1905, in Mississippi County, daughter of Charles Henry and Ellen Reagan Vowels. She and Tandy B. Murphy were married June 1, 1925. He died in 1968.

Murphy worked at Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston, retiring in 1958. She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Murphy of Charleston, Orville Murphy of Palatious, Texas; two daughters, Ellen Brumley of Wyatt, Clara Cope of Bertrand; two sisters, Pauline Lockaby of Pelham, Ga., Beatrice Walker of Sun City, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry's Church. The Rev. James Reynolds will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
