Ashley Carlton and Jack Puisis have qualified for the Elks State Hoop Shoot Contest to be held Jan. 27 in St. Louis.

The Elks Hoop Shoot is a free throw contest for boys and girls, ages 8-13. Each contestant shoots 25 free throws, with the winner advancing to the next round.

Carlton is the daughter of Kathy Carlton of Jackson and Steve Carlton of Fruitland. She won the local contest held by the Jackson Elks Lodge, making 11 of 25 free throws. She then won the district contest at Arcadia Valley, making 19 of 25.

Puisis is the son of Brian and Kim Barnes. He won the local contest by making 20 of 25 free throws, then won the district title, making 23 of 25.

The first place finishers in the state will advance to regionals to be held in Paris, Tenn., on March 10.
