JACKSON, Mo. -- A 23-year-old man charged with kidnapping and sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl is now facing new charges involving a 7-year-old girl, the Cape Girardeau County prosecutor said.

Samuel J. Farrow Jr. of Jackson had abducted the 7-year-old in July from a trailer in Scott City, Mo., prosecutor Morley Swingle said. In November, he kidnapped a 4-year-old who had moved into the same trailer with her family.

Farrow was charged with three additional crimes involving the 7-year-old after investigators turned their findings over to the prosecutor's office this week. Thirteen of the 16 crimes now charged against Farrow carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.

"We will do everything possible to make sure he doesn't walk on the streets again," Swingle said.

Investigators reported that the 7-year-old had been taken through a bedroom window at the rear of the trailer at night. When her parents woke up later that morning, they found their daughter disoriented in their living room.

"They thought she had just had a bad dream when she talked about a man taking her far, far away," Swingle said.

The girl's parents did not talk to police until they learned of the 4-year-old's disappearance in November, the prosecutor said. Afterward, it became apparent that the two abductions were related, he said.

A mental evaluation of Farrow is expected to be sent to the prosecutor's office soon, Swingle said. He had been evaluated by psychiatrists at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington, Mo.

A judge had requested the prosecutor and Farrow's attorney, Al Lowes, to appear for a review of the case's status on Feb. 21.
