Cape Girardeau should be chosen to host a broadcast of the public radio program "Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?" because it is the hometown of radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, because it has cheesecake on a stick and because most of the businesses have drive-through windows.

Those are among the Top 10 reasons radio station KRCU FM 90.9 submitted in its entry in the off-beat quiz program's Let's Put on a Show Contest.

Greg Petrowich, the station's general manager, said the topper may be the 90-second audio tape submitted as part of the entry. Station personnel edited President George Bush's recent tax-cut speech into an interview in which he appears to be endorsing Cape Girardeau's contest entry.

The program plans to broadcast the audio entries of the three finalists on March 10. "We thought it had a good chance of getting on," Petrowich said.

The hometown of the winning entry earns the right to host the comedy quiz show for an April broadcast.

Entrants were asked to tell the producers why their town deserves to have the show.

Petrowich said KRCU submitted its entry as a Web site with links to newspaper stories about the contest, to Rush Limbaugh's Web page and to sites with information about the city.

Entries were due by midnight Thursday. Three finalists are to be announced during the March 10 broadcast. Listeners and audience members will then cast their votes, with the winner to be announced during the same broadcast.

The entries will be judged on their originality and Wisconsin Public Radio Association's ability to sell enough tickets to cover expenses and generate revenue.
