A 19-year-old Southeast Missouri State University coed was robbed in a campus parking lot this week by a man who said he had a gun.

The victim said she had parked her car in the Towers lot Monday night and was headed to her dorm when a man wearing a black ski mask approached her, campus police chief Doug Richards said.

The man demanded her money and her car keys. While no weapon was visible, the woman said the robber threatened her with a gun.

After taking the victim's cash, the robber fled on foot toward Sprigg Street.

Extra patrols, including plainclothes officers, were assigned as a precautionary measure, Richards said.

The robbery, the first this year, is not thought to be related to an attack of a coed Feb. 3 that occurred in the 1200 block of Broadway.
