The boy, a Cape Girardeau public schools student, was taken into custody Tuesday by juvenile authorities and cited into juvenile court on suspicion of first-degree statutory rape and first-degree sexual misconduct.

Statutory rape implies that someone under the age of 14 had sex. Muench said the investigation did not indicate forcible rape, which implies that a victim was forced to have intercourse.
