BENTON, Mo. -- The body of a man believed to be the victim of a homicide was discovered Saturday in rural Scott County, Sheriff Bill Ferrell said.

Investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety assisted Scott County deputies at the scene.

Coroner Scott Amick will schedule an autopsy to determine the cause of death, Ferell said.
