Revival Center, formerly Heritage Gardens Nursing Center, at 914 Old Cape Road is a God-centered organization.

With an interdenominational congregation, the pastor here offers Bible study and the support people need to get back on their feet, back into society and on the road to being productive citizens.

"With a good Samaritan philosophy, this church takes in people who are hurting," says the pastor, who wishes to remain anonymous. Most people come in with only the clothes on their backs. They are encouraged to get jobs. At this time, the residents can claim 100 percent employment.

"The people in the community of Jackson are very friendly, charitable and accepting," says the pastor. "This entire place has been furnished by donations. We get no government help."

The Drury Co. donated beds, carpeting and furniture when the center remodeled. Project Hope has donated curtains and a lot of household appliances.

This building was purchased in February. The Revival Center was previously located in Cape Girardeau.

Diana Richards, who came from an environment of abuse and drug addiction, says, "This place gives people hope to go on. It takes a lot of God; people can say anything, but it's the strength you get from God that helps you to go on."

Richards talks about her journey to God and how He's taken the loneliness and hurt away.

"He let's you know you're not on the road alone," she says.
