Gospel singer Crystal McCallister of Jackson will be a special guest at the final Jackson Municipal Band concert for the season at 8 p.m. Thursday.

This concert will take place at the Gazebo in uptown Jackson.

McCallister, originally from Marquand, has been singing gospel music at churches and special events in Southeast Missouri and surrounding areas for most of her life. She has had experience as a soloist and with various groups. She is currently a member of the Jackson-based women's trio From the Heart.

McCallister enjoys singing a variety of musical styles, evident on her three solo recordings:

"Simple Things," which is southern and contemporary gospel; "Angels in the Snow," Christmas music; and "For Sentimental Reasons," a collection of 1940's standards.

The band's portion of the concert is a surprise.
