"Seizing Opportunities in Rural America" is the theme of the annual Quinstate Economic Development Conference, to be held at the University of Missouri Delta Center's Southern Telecommunications Community Resource Center (TCRC) in Portageville, Mo., March 22 and 23.

The Quinstate Conference, co-sponsored by cooperative extension services from Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee, is held at various sites over the five states. The 1992 conference was held in Cape Girardeau, and the 1997 conference was held at Jackson.

The Quinstate Conference is designed as an audience participation event, with the idea of sharing successes, ideas, exploring common problems and finding solutions.

Among topics on the two-day agenda will be earthquake preparedness, the changing role of agriculture and helping a community seize opportunities.
