Gov. Mel Carnahan recently appointed two Cape Girardeau County residents to state boards.

Carnahan appointed Sandra K. Grebing of Jackson to the State Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Services. He also named Gerald W. Jones, Cape County presiding commissioner, to the Missouri Emergency Response Commission.

Grebing, 33, is a certified registered nurse and is the lead flight nurse for Air Evac EMS, Inc. She is also a former intensive care unit nurse at St. Francis Medical Center and former flight nurse for ARCH Air Medical. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University.

She was recently confirmed by the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee.

The State Advisory Council on Emergency Medical services makes recommendations on policies, plans, procedures and proposed regulations, regarding improving the statewide emergency medical services system.

Jones, 59, ha also been confirmed for the Emergency Response Commission post. The commission protects public health and the environment by assisting communities with chemical incident prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. The commission also receives, processes and reports on chemical information received under the community right-to-know laws.

Jones owns and publishes the Cashbook-Journal in Jackson.
