A Mississippi County man faces a maximum of 20 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to a methamphetamine charge.

Edward Boyer, 40, of East Prairie pleaded guilty to one count of possession with Intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Boyer was arrested after a traffic stop Sept. 27 by Dexter police. Boyer began running and as he was being apprehended, a red container was observed in his hand. Inside were 11 baggies containing methphetamine and one bag containing 10 ephedrine pills. He had $4,200 in cash.

He admitted to possessing the methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

The plea was made before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel in Cape Girardeau.
