Two people were injured in separate accidents on Southeast Missouri highways, according to reports Friday from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Edwin Huffman, 85, of Hayti was injured Thursday when he attempted to back his car onto Missouri Route D at the intersection of Route U in Pemiscot County.

His vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer driven by Michael Jeffries of Denmark, Tenn. The patrol report said the accident happened at 10:15 p.m. Thursday.

Huffman was treated at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.

In Wayne County, Rosalita Smith, 19, was injured early Friday morning when her vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned three times. She was thrown from the car. The accident occurred at 2 a.m., about nine miles south of Greenville on U.S. Highway 67.

Smith was taken by ambulance to Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
