CAPE GIRARDEAU- - Regional Social Scene recently opened in Cape Girardeau and has experienced initial success.

Beth Schmucker, president and founder of the organization, said that "response has been gratifying and there is an obvious desire for this type of club in the region."

The most unique aspect is the large variety of group activities scheduled each month, according to Schmucker. "All of these activities are available for members to select events that appeal to their and meet their scheduling needs," said Schmucker.

Founded in January, the club's goals are 75 members in the first 90 days and 250 members in the first year of operation. Several membership packages are available including trial and gift certificates.

The mission of the club is to exceed member expectation in providing quality group activities, entertainment and social opportunities for those who join. Activity categories include annual events, spectator sports, participation sports, dining, dancing, contests, music, theater, arts and community services.

"Most importantly, confidentiality is the key," said Schmucker. "We provide a safe environment for people to meet and socialize while providing interesting and fun activities and events." Current members include singles from age 21 and over. "If you don't have plans, we do," said Schmucker.
