DEXTER -- A Dexter man is recovering after apparently being struck by a train near Tyson Foods at about midnight Wednesday, according to a Dexter Police Department report.

John Q. Adams, 37, was airlifted to Southeast Missouri Hospitalin Cape Girardeau for treatment of minor injuries and observation.

The city police agency received a report from Union Pacific officials of a possible fatal injury at the Stoddard Street crossing near Tyson. Police and railroad personnel searched under and on both sides of the stopped train without finding anyone.

About an hour later, a Stoddard County Ambulance Crew was dispatched to the Smyth Trailer Court for a report of man showing signs of possible internal injuries.
