TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING RAID

More than 10 law enforcement officers burst into a residence early Thursday, arresting two men in a drug raid, Cape Girardeau police said.

Police and members of the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force forcibly entered the residence at 7:39 a.m. at 812 N. Sprigg St., Cpl. Kevin Orr said.

Arrested were James G. Owens and Dameon L. Jones, both 19, and residents of the house.

Police reported they found no weapons but did recover a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including scales and rolling paper. Cash was also recovered.

Both men were charged with class A misdemeanors of possession of a controlled substance, which is punishable by up to one year in jail. They are being held on bonds of $10,000 at the Cape Girardeau City Jail, pending transfer to the County Jail, police said.

The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation, Orr said.
