The March meeting of the American Legion Post #158 was called to order by Commander Seabaugh, at 8 p.m. The Color Guard advanced the colors, Chaplain Boyd Summers gave the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance to he flag, and the preamble of the American Legion Constitution were recited in unison by the 48 members present...

The March meeting of the American Legion Post #158 was called to order by Commander Seabaugh, at 8 p.m. The Color Guard advanced the colors, Chaplain Boyd Summers gave the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance to he flag, and the preamble of the American Legion Constitution were recited in unison by the 48 members present.

Program: A program was given on cardiovascular surgery by Dr. Edward Bender, MD. Dr. Bender is board certified by the American College of Surgeons and by the American Board of Cardiac Surgery. Last year there were 680 bypass procedures performed by the two area hospitals. Dr. Bender reported that the average age of a bypass patient in our area is 65.2 years old.

Minutes of the February 2000 meeting were approved as printed.

Financial Report: Mike Proctor -- Report approved as read.

Membership: Lloyd Law -- Membership stands at 615. REMINDER: 2000 dues are past due!!

Graves Information: Glen Bollinger -- No report

Trustee: Harlen Siebert -- A new garbage disposal was installed in die kitchen. Trustees will look into replacing the tile in the men's rest room.

Welfare-Club Room -Hospital: Bill Poe -- A wheelchair was donated, anyone needing hospital equipment, contact Bill Poe. Home Comers will be August 22-26,2000

Post Flag Information: Carlton Meyer -- No Report

Americanism Committee: Charles Hutson -- Ms. Kelly Shields took forth place at the State Oratorical Contest. She received a $1,400 scholarship from the American Legion, Department of Missouri. Congratulations Kelly. (Bill Poe said she was "robbed;" she did much better than fourth!)

House Report: Leon Laurentius -- Approved as read.

Honor Guard: Bill Sullivan -- Three services were conducted last month. A letter was read from Janet Hopkins, thanking the Honor Guard, and the American Legion Post 158 for all they do.

Public Relations: Jim Nelson -- Contributions made to the American Legion Post 158 Memorial Scholarship Fund during the past month. In memory of Glen Thompson

Bingo Leonard Adams -- Report approved as read from Bingo resources, $1,500 to conic from tile Club Room resources. Motion carried. To be voted on again at the April meeting. The total cost of operating the teams will be about $8,000 to $10,000 this year. The additional funds to be raised by ,the baseball committee.

Baseball committee will sponsor a fund raising Barbecue on March 25. The Barbecue Team known as "Smokin' Butts," will smoke pork butts (Boston Butts) at $12 each. Contact Kenneth Koehler at 243- 7208 to reserve yours today! Support OUR teams.

Vietnam Traveling Wall: The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be at Arena Park April 20-24. Plan to visit "The Wall" if at all possible.

Drawing: $72.50 in the pot. Charles Hutchings, not present. 1/2 Pot drawing, Kenny Lennington, Myron Bohnert, Kenneth Wagner, Freeman Sebastian, none present.

Color Guard retired the Colors. Chaplain Boyd Summers gave closing prayer. Closed the meeting at 9:05 p.m.

Refreshments: Vincent Schwartz -- Roast beef, vegetables and drink was served to tile members present. Thanks Vincent for a great job, we appreciate all that you do!
