KARNAK, Ill. -- Funeral for Catherine Schierbaum of Joppa will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Elder Richard Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Webb Cemetery at Tunnel Hill.

Schierbaum, 89, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at her home.

She was born Sept. 1, 1910, at Tunnel Hill, daughter of James and Rosa Choate Brooks. She married Allen Schierbaum, who died in 1979.

Schierbaum had worked at the Nachusa Children's Home in Nachusa, and at Mound City Sand Co. She was a member of Reorganized Church of Latter-day Saints in Joppa.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Jones of Grand Chain, Bonnie Kohler of Mill Creek; three sons, Kenneth Schierbaum of Grand Chain, Bennie Schierbaum of Bluford, William Schierbaum of Metropolis; a sister, Mary Schierbaum of Karnak; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and a grandson.
