An Oak Ridge girl was seriously injured Thursday in a three-vehicle accident west of Jackson.

Tessa Newell, 7, was taken to St. Francis Medical Center after the 4:40 p.m. accident on Highway 34, one-half mile west of Jackson.

She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Cheryl Newell, 33, of Oak Ridge.

The drivers of the other vehicles were George Brewer, 42, of Marble Hill and Summer Unnerstall, 25, of Sedgewickville. None of the drivers was injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Brewer vehicle was stopped behind the Unnerstall vehicle in traffic when the westbound Newell vehicle failed to yield, striking the Brewer vehicle, which then struck Unnerstall's car.

In another accident in the region Thursday, Shannon Davis, 22, of Marble Hill sustained moderate injuries when his vehicle overturned near Patton.

Davis was taken to St. Francis Medical Center after the 3:30 a.m. mishap on Highway 51 one-forth mile south of Patton.

According to the patrol, Davis' vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.
