A 38-year-old man died Monday in a work-related accident at a trucking warehouse, said John Capenter, Cape Girardeau County coroner.

Billy Wayne Lesar Sr., 38, died at 11:28 p.m. after being trapped between a loading machine and a steel wall at Custom Express Inc. at 14916 Highway 177, Carpenter said.

Lesar, of Thebes, Ill., was standing on the front of a loading machine, working with a driver. The machine accidentally wedged Lesar against the wall, where he was pinned for nearly three minutes, Carpenter said.

"It cut off his breathing," Carpenter said. "He didn't have a chance" in the accident that crushed several of his internal organs.

Lesar was taken by ambulance to Southeast Hospital, where Carpenter pronounced him dead.

Lesar was employed by Horizon Express Inc. of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
