Mrs. Welker is the former Melissa Bates, daughter of Houston F. Bates of St. Louis, and the late Wanda Bates. Welker is the son of Joseph and Dolly Mae Welker of Perryville. He is an operations technician with Marathon Oil Co. in Patoka, Ill.
