Herbert and Alvina Forrester of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th anniversary July 21, 2001.

The couple renewed their wedding vows during mass at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, Mo., with Msgr. Mike Swalina officiating.

A dinner and dance followed at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Charleston.

Forrester was employed with National Supermarket 40 years, retiring from the Cape Girardeau store in 1995.

The couple has four children, David Forrester of O'Fallon, Mo., Herbert Forrester Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vicki McGrath of Jacksonville, Ill., and Sandy Lonergan of Franklin, Ill. The Forresters have four grandsons and six granddaughters.

A son Gary Forrester is deceased.
