JACKSON, Mo. -- A night after falling by 25 points to Notre Dame, Jackson picked up the pieces and picked up a huge 73-63 victory over Doniphan Saturday.

Jackson led 17-9 after the first quarter and 42-29 at halftime.

The Indians were able to neutralize Doniphan's 6-foot-11 center Adam Crader. Jackson got Crader in some early foul trouble and held him to 14 points.

"We just put a kid behind him and tried to make him beat us," said Jackson coach Mike Kiehne. "Matt Roethemeyer did a great job defending him. We wanted to keep him off the block as much as possible and we were able to do that.

"I'm proud of the team effort. We executed the game plan perfectly and that's something we haven't done lately."

Matt Ferrell led the Indians with 20 points, followed by Seth McDowell with 15 and Brad Hilbert with 10.

"We tried to penetrate at the big kid and do the best we could," Kiehne said. "We wanted to attack and surprisingly we rebounded well against them."

Jackson improved to 9-8, while Doniphan dropped to 11-5.

"We've had some up-and-down games and we're just looking for some consistency," Kiehne said.

Parkway W. 43, C. Central 36

The Tigers, who trailed 6-4 after the first quarter, (3-12) led 13-11 at halftime. But Parkway West outscored Central 15-3 in the third quarter and Central couldn't recover.

Perryville 79, Chester 60

CHESTER, Ill. -- Chad Etzold scored a career-high 23 points as Perryville survived a 3-point clinic.

The Pirates (10-7) were tied at 12 after the first quarter but used a 25-14 advantage in the second quarter to take a 37-26 lead into halftime.

"We got off to a slow start in the first quarter," said Perryville coach Jeff Stephens, whose Pirates knocked off Chester by 36 points earlier this year. "But in the second quarter we picked the intensity up. Chad Etzold stepped up when Chad Ozark got his third foul. The last two quarters they couldn't stop him with his height and he ended up with 23."

Tyler Abernathy scored 16 points for the Pirates, while Ozark finished with 15.

South Iron 63, Oak Ridge 44

OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Oak Ridge trailed by just three points going into the fourth quarter, but South Iron made its foul shots down the stretch and pulled away in a game that was closer than the final score indicated.
