Sara Sprigg broke the Cape Central diving record by 20 points as the Lady Tigers prevailed in its first ever meeting with Notre Dame in girls swimming on Thursday.

Cape Central won 104-82 in the first dual meet for Notre Dame's first-year program.

Sprigg's record total of 238.40 points led a 1-2-3 finish by the Lady Tigers in the event.

The Lady Bulldogs had their moments, including state-cut times by Lindsay Kuper in winning both the 100 (56.79) and 500 freestyle (5:35.63). Ali Tyson was also a double winner for the Lady Bulldogs, touching the wall first in both the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Cape Central improved to 2-3 while Notre Dame fell to 0-1.

JACKSON, Mo. Notre Dame won a triangular meet in its first action of the year, shooting a collective score of 162 in cold and wet conditions at Bent Creek.

Tim Buerck, Paul Unterreiner and Elliot Maschmann all shot 40s for Notre Dame, while Ryan Hannan carded a 42. Par was 36.

"We had some kids from the bottom of the lineup contribute," Notre Dame coach Chris Janet. "We're really proud of that score."

Mark Burlison posted a team-best 41 for Fredericktown.
