COOKESVILLE, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State University's softball team, which has owned the Ohio Valley Conference in recent years, dropped a doubleheader to OVC foe Tennessee Tech Saturday.

Tennessee Tech (23-13, 2-0) needed nine innings to dispose of the Otahkians (9-14, 3-2) 5-4 in the opener, while the Eagles solved Southeast 5-1 in the nightcap.

Southeast managed 12 hits in the opener, but only three in the second game.

The Lady Indians committed five errors on the day three in the first game, while Tennessee Tech had only one miscue, that coming in the opener.

Two Southeast errors and a wild pitch led to Tech's game-winning run in the ninth.

Jenny Doehring (7-6) suffered the loss in the first game. She threw 8 2/3 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits and three walks while striking out six.

In the second game, Southeast tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning, but the Eagles scored three in the bottom of the third on Lee Ann Mongar's home run and never looked back.

Mongar had three hits and five RBIs and her home run broke a record for most career home runs (10).

Tech's Lori Bayless (four innings) and Adrienne Fortmann (three) combined for the three-hitter. Fortmann threw three perfect innings.

Kristin King suffered the loss for Southeast. In six innings, she gave up five runs, two earned, on six hits and no walks. She fanned none.
