COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Jenny Doehring might not have been the Ohio Valley Conference's softball leader in any one category, but she excelled in just about every area.

And that all-around excellence was rewarded over the weekend as Southeast Missouri State University's sophomore was named the OVC Player of the Year.

Doehring ranked among the top OVC players in five different offensive categories as she helped lead Southeast to a second-place finish in the league standings.

The native of Nashville, Ill., was seventh in the conference in batting average (.323) and was also among league leaders in runs scored (31), runs batted in (26), triples (4) and home runs (4). On the mound, Doehring was 15-8, ranking third in the league in wins, with a 2.47 earned run average, five shutouts and 19 complete games.

A unanimous selection to her second All-OVC first team squad, Doehring struck out 84 batters, ranking seventh in the conference in strikeouts per seven innings (3.99).

In conference action, Doehring was even better, batting .391 and compiling a 10-2 pitching record, with a 1.76 ERA.

Doehring is the fourth Otahkian to be named OVC Player of the Year, joining Jenny Oermann in 1999, Lisa Kraxner in 1996 and Kim Palmer in 1995.

Southeast senior catcher Renee Enos joined Doehring on the All-OVC first team and she was one of only three unanimous selections to the unit. Enos has now been on four All-OVC squads, making the first team last year and the second team as both a freshman and sophomore.

Overall, Enos batted .397 to rank third in the league. She also had three homers, 10 doubles and 22 RBIs. In conference action, Enos hit a sizzling .492

Three Otahkians were All-OVC second team selections: Sophomore second baseman/shortstop Brooke Nett, sophomore outfielder Kemi Rampi and junior outfielder Courtney Eklund.

Junior second baseman Emmy Kisaka was named All-OVC honorable mention, her third selection to that team in as many years at Southeast.
