Thursday was Bob Garrett's lucky day.

In fact, after a round of golf at the Cape Girardeau Country Club, Garrett said he was going to buy a lottery ticket.

He would actually have a better shot at striking it rich in the lottery than he would have at repeating his performance Thursday.

Garrett, who lives in Cape Girardeau, didn't just make one hole-in-one.

He hit two.

After joining a group of friends at hole No. 6, Garrett aced the 140-yard, par-3 hole No. 8 with an 8-iron. Rob Janet, Tom Schumer and George Landre witnessed the first hole-in-one.

"It was strange because I started on the sixth hole," Garrett said. "And after I got the first one, I wanted to fill in my scorecard."

The second ace, witnessed by Tim Coad and Mark Kneer, was a miracle.

At hole No. 2, Garrett hit the back of the green and the ball stopped. Then the wind picked up and it rolled to a few feet from the cup. Then, with the group just 30 yards from the green, it rolled again and rested at the lip before falling in.

Garrett ended up shooting a personal-best 32 over the first nine holes and ended up shooting a 73.

Garrett said both balls he used came from the same sleeve that a friend had given him recently.
