Johnson, the 2000 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, was drafted in the 26th round by the Toronto Blue Jays this year. The outfielder hit .376 for the Blue Jays' Class A Medicine Hat team and was named the Pioneer League Player of the Year.

A former star at Egyptian (Ill.) High School, Johnson was a four-year starter at Southeast and twice earned all-OVC first-team honors. He holds many of the Indians' career offensive records, including hits (287), runs (214), doubles (65), runs batted in (184), walks (117) and at-bats (800).
