ST. LOUIS -- With runners at second and third in the bottom of the seventh inning and Southwest Missouri State's cleanup hitter at the plate, Southeast Missouri State University pitcher Jenny Doehring picked up her one and only strikeout of the game to notch the victory, 4-3, in the first game of a non-league softball doubleheader Wednesday.

Southeast, now 21-21, wasn't as fortunate in the nightcap, falling 3-1.

In the first game, Kelsey White and Tami Hebert each had two hits for the Otahkians.

Southeast, which had eight hits total, scored two runs in the first and two more in the second, but was shut out after that. Southwest scored one in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

In the second game, a Renee Enos third-inning sacrifice fly was the only run Southeast could muster.

Renee Mueller suffered the loss in five innings. She allowed three runs (one earned) on just four hits. She walked none while striking out two.

Jennifer Dippel was perfect in relief for the Otahkians.

Southeast got five hits from five different batters.

The Otahkians will return to Ohio Valley Conference action this weekend as they visit Morehead State for a three-game series.
