FRESNO, Calif. -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team dropped both its matches Friday as it opened play in the tough Fresno State Tournament.

Southeast, which fell to 4-8, suffered a 15-6, 15-8, 15-8 loss to Santa Clara and a 15-10, 15-9, 12-15, 15-2 loss to the University of San Diego.

Lea Beckemeyer led Southeast with 11 kills against Santa Clara while Emily Scannell dished out 29 assists. Krista Haukap led the defense with nine digs and three blocks. Southeast had a team attack percentage of just .038 for the match.

Becky Potter paced Santa Clara (10-1) with 12 kills. Santa Clara's attack percentage was .228 for the match.

Beckemeyer and Haukap each had 25 kills against San Diego (5-6). Scannell accumulated 60 assists while making 13 digs. Haukap also had 13 digs in the match.

Southeast had a .194 attack percentage for the match as compared to .347 for San Diego.

Noel Frohman was successful on 21 kills for San Diego.

Southeast returns to action today with a match against Fresno State.
