BENTON -- Cape Central removed any hope of a Kelly comeback when it outscored the Lady Hawks by 17 points in the third quarter en route to a 60-31 victory Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers, who were paced by Katie Dougherty's 14 points, improved to 12-4 on the season.

Dionna Webb added 12 points and Kim Aslinger netted 10.

Marissa Essner scored a game-high 15 points for Kelly.

Cape Central took a 13-10 lead into the second quarter and a 28-17 advantage into halftime. The Lady Tigers proceeded to outscore Kelly 21-4 in the third quarter for a 28-point advantage.

"We finally picked up our defensive intensity and things started falling the way they should," said Cape Central coach Darrick Smith.

Perryville 84, St. Vincent 24

PERRYVILLE -- Perryville vanquished its in-town rival in impressive fashion.

"We just couldn't do anything," St. Vincent coach Terry Wengert said. "They were pretty aggressive."

Perryville (9-8, 5-0 Jefferson County Conference) opened a 35-7 lead in the first quarter and sailed from there. Jamie Amberger finished with 21 points, Shannon Dreyer had 18 and Jeni Blevins and Jaimie Mueller both added 10.

Jessica Lakenan led St. Vincent (4-12) with nine points.

Scott City 61, Dexter 44

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City took control with a 20-10 second-quarter edge and cruised on to a victory over Dexter.

Becca Gowin scored 16 points and Alaina Smith added 12 as the Lady Rams improved to 8-6. Erin Raines and Tara Phillips added support off the bench and both scored six points.

After forfeiting the 103-pound match and dropping the next one at 112, Central proceeded to win all 12 matches between 119 and heavyweight and routed Marion.

"It's nice to go in and dominate a match you know you're supposed to dominate, but it didn't prepare us for the competition we'll wrestle next weekend (in the district meet)," Central coach Drew Lilledahl said.
