BLOOMFIELD -- Kelly's Justin Simpher held Bloomfield to four hits and also knocked in three runs as the Hawks rolled to a 12-1, five-inning victory over Bloomfield Thursday.

Kelly (2-1-1) banged out 11 hits, including three home runs.

Bradly Kolwyck went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs, while Jason Glastetter accounted for the other home run.

Jamie Essner and Jon Heuring each added two hits.

Simpher struck out three and walked three.

Kelly jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first. Bloomfield scored its lone run in the home half of the inning. The Hawk added six unanswered runs, including three in the top of the fifth that enacted the 10-run rule.

St. Vincent 7, St. Pius 1

HILLSBORO -- Dusty Wengert limited St. Pius to one run and five hits and struck out seven in St. Vincent's victory, which moved it to 4-1.

Leading 3-1, St. Vincent tacked on four runs in the fifth inning. The Indians rapped out 11 hits.

Wengert and Derek Kutz both went 3-for-4, Corey Strattman was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Justin Amschler had a two-RBI triple.

Girls soccer

Cape Central 10, Hillsboro 0

Cape Central improved to 4-0-1 with its easy win over Hillsboro. The game was halted 13 minutes into the second half due to a 10-goal mercy rule.

Central's Katie Cozby, Jennifer Daume and Amber Voerg each scored two goals, and Sarah Brown, Amanda Hiler, Kim Aslinger and Rebecca Hellrich each had one.

Hellrich also contributed three assists. Trisha Klipfel had two and Heather Hey, Daume, Voerg and Cozby each had one.

In the JV game, Central won 9-0 as Katie Hawkins staged a seven-goal display. Jessica Ham and Kaytie Cole also scored.

Jackson 9, De Soto 0

DE SOTO -- A day after clobbering Hillsboro 10-0, Jackson captured another convincing win on Thursday.

Julie Wunderlich and Lacey Hodo each scored three goals, while Sarah Johnson, Carrie Myer and Sarah Schlick each scored one.

Jessica Shultz and Schlick each had two assists apiece.

Goalkeeper Dana Littlepage recorded her third shutout of the year as the Lady Indians improved to 3-2-1 on the season.

Notre Dame 1, Poplar Bluff 0

Notre Dame's Laura Mittrucker scored 30 minutes into the match on Cyndi Cox's assists as the Lady Bulldogs topped Poplar Bluff.

Notre Dame is now 2-3-1. Shannel Buelteman got the shutout in goal.

Perryville 6, Windsor 0

IMPERIAL -- Sophomore Stacy Baer's hat trick propelled Perryville to a victory over Windsor.

Perryville, which led 3-0 at the half, improved to 4-0.

The Lady Pirates' other goals came from Brooke Winkler, Laura Klaus and Shannon Dreyer. Britney Weibrecht had three assists, Amanda Schumer had two and Winkler one.

Jeni Blevins and Amanda Nuyt split the goalkeeping duties.

Golf

Jackson wins triangular meet

Jackson edged Fredericktown by four strokes and outdistanced Notre Dame by 17 shots Thursday in a triangular meet at Kimbeland Country Club.

Jackson (5-1) finished with 164, followed by Fredericktown (169) and Notre Dame (181).

Jackson's Chris Pike shot a 4-over-par 39 to share medalist honors with Notre Dame's Tim Buerck and Fredericktown's Dustin Merrill.

Jackson' team score was rounded out by Gabe Estes 40, Peyton Sims 43 and Nathan Brown 42.

Notre Dame other top scores were turned in by Nick Martin 46, Ryan Hennan 46 and Lucas Klein 50.

Boys Tennis

Cape Central 8, Carbondale 1

Cape Central rolled past Carbondale, Ill., Thursday, winning five of the six singles matches and sweeping doubles play.

Central improved to 4-1 with the win.

The Tigers' JV team upped its record to 5-0 with a 13-1 victory.

JACKSON -- Notre Dame took the first game of a doubleheader against Jackson, 2-0, before Jackson won the second game, 4-3.

In the second game, Jackson's Garrett Williams earned the win. Patrick Kohm's two-RBI single in the seventh was the game-winner.

Track

Perryville girls take second

DE SOTO -- Perryville's girls took second and the boys tied for third in a track meet in De Soto Thursday.

For the girls, Jill Berkbuegler took first in the high jump and Julie Berkbuegler took first in the 300-meter hurdles. Both Berkbueglers helped Jen Hadler and Renee Schlichting to a first-place finish in the 3,200 relay. Amy Verseman ended up in first in the shot put.

In boys action, Cory Reiney took first in the discuss and Nathan Ruessler finished first in the 300 hurdles. The 1600 relay team also captured first.

ST. LOUIS -- With 451 points, Cape Central took third behind Marquette (724) and Rockwood Summit (504) and ahead of Eureka (409) in the Summit Quad.

A highlight for the Lady Tigers was Jennifer Freeze's state-meet qualifying time of :58.63 in the 100 freestyle.
