Tied 1-1 23 minutes into the match, Cape Girardeau Central High's undefeated girls soccer team scored four unanswered goals and pulled away for a 5-1 victory over visiting Perryville Tuesday.

After Central's Amanda Hiler scored three minutes in on Amber Voerg's assist, Perryville's Brooke Winkler responded with a goal 20 minutes later. But Central's Rachel Hessenkemper scored a minute before halftime to make the score 2-1.

Central, now 5-0-1, got three goals in the second half, from Voerg on a penalty kick, from Hiler on Hessenkemper's assist and from Erica McDonald on an assist by Kim Aslinger.

In JV action, Central prevailed 3-1 as Katie Hawkins scored all three goals for the Lady Tigers. Katie Cole and Cameron Bennett earned assists.

Jackson 4, Marion 0

JACKSON -- Jackson's Julie Wunderlich scored twice as the Lady Indians improved to 4-2-1 Tuesday.

Wunderlich now has 11 goals in seven games this season.

Also scoring goals for Jackson were Jessica Shultz and Laura Beck.

Jennifer Horst had an assist and Dana Littlepage recorded her fifth shutout of the season in goal.

Jackson outshot the Illinois squad 37-6.

Jackson's JV also won 4-0.

BASEBALL

Chaffee 7, Jackson 6

CHAFFEE -- Chaffee scored six straight runs Tuesday and saw an Indian comeback fall a run short.

With the score tied 4-4 in the bottom of the third inning, Chaffee's Matt Stroup doubled home two runs and the Red Devils added a solo run in the fifth. Jackson countered with a solo home run by Toby Freeman in the sixth and a single run in the seventh.

Tom Stidham went the distance for Chaffee (3-1), allowing eight hits and walking only one. He struck out six Indians.

Stroup and Travis Hanback each had two hits for Chaffee.

After Jackson (2-4) had scored three runs in the top of the second, Chaffee saw its first two batters retired in the bottom of the inning, but then strung together four hits and a walk for three runs. Dusty Leggett had a two-run double in the inning.

Nathan Brown led Jackson with three hits, including a double, and Tory Meyr added two hits.

Chris Schlick pitched six innings for Jackson, surrendering nine hits and six walks.

Kelly 7, Dexter 6

BENTON -- Trailing 6-4 in the sixth inning, Kelly's Jim Hulshof rapped a two-run single to tie the score, and then the Hawks got the game-winning run on a groundout.

Justin Simpher went two scoreless innings and earned the win after relieving Hulshof.

For Kelly (3-1-1), which totaled five hits, Hulshof was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and John Heuring was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Twin Rivers 10, Advance 5

ADVANCE -- The Hornets suffered their first loss of the year despite solo home runs by D.A. Slinkard and Eric Abernathy.

Slinkard and Abernathy both went 3-for-4, but their offensive output was wasted as Advance committed four errors that led to five unearned runs.

"We're playing well offensively, but were' making a lot of errors," Advance coach Chuck Powers said. "We made some mental mistakes, too."

Chris Wallace suffered the loss in seven innings. He gave up 10 runs on 13 hits and three walks. He fanned seven.
