ST. LOUIS -- In a battle of undefeated high school soccer teams, the Cape Girardeau Central Lady Tigers knocked off Rolla 3-0 Saturday at the St. Louis Soccer Park. ST. LOUIS -- In a battle of undefeated high school soccer teams, the Cape Girardeau Central Lady Tigers knocked off Rolla 3-0 Saturday at the St. Louis Soccer Park.

Central improved to 7-0-1 while Rolla fell to 6-1.

"It was a big win for us," said Central coach Tom Doyle. "We need the experience of playing on the turf at the soccer park because that's where the sectionals are always played."

The Lady Tigers led 1-0 at halftime as Amber Voerg scored off an assist from Kim Aslinger.

Amanda Hiler and Aslinger notched goals in the second half, with Hiler earning an assist on Aslinger's tally.

Goalkeeper Heather Hay earned the shutout.

Central's junior varsity also remained unbeaten at 4-0-1 with a 5-0 romp past Rolla. Katie Hawkins scored four goals and Ashley McElreath added one.

The Lady Tigers will play at Notre Dame Tuesday.

Notre Dame 4, Windsor 1

PACIFIC -- Led by Courtney Vickery's three-goal, one-assist performance, Notre Dame captured third place in the Pacific Tournament.

Emily Worley added a goal for Notre Dame, which led 2-1 at halftime. Cyndi Cox and Jill Edwards had assists.

Notre Dame is now 4-4-1. Vickery and Katie Mehner were both named to the all-tournament team.

St. Vincent 8, Brentwood 0

PERRYVILLE -- Kindle Ernst poured in four goals and Cari Strattman scored three to pace St. Vincent's romp.

The Squaws (3-1) also got a goal from Danielle Sutterer while Strattman and Sutterer both had two assists. Goalie Amie Leible earned the shutout.

BASEBALL

Kelly places third

ANNA, Ill. -- Kelly split games to take third place in a four-team tournament hosted by Anna-Jonesboro.

Kelly lost the first game 8-2 to Lone Oak, Ky., but the Hawks (6-2-1) rebounded to beat Anna-Jonesboro 2-1 in the third-place game.

Justin Simpher suffered the loss in the first game. He went five innings and allowed eight runs (three earned) on eight hits and five walks.

Jaime Essner pitched a scoreless and hitless inning of relief.

Kelly's Jon Welter and Bradley Kolwyck each went 2-for-3.

In the second game, Jim Hulshof pitched a three-hit gem for the win. He gave up one earned run, walked one and struck out six.

"He had his best outing of the season," Kelly coach Mike Scott said. "It was in this tournament last year when Jimmy found his groove."

With the game tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Kelly won the game on back-to-back doubles by Essner and Welter.

Welter went 2-for-4.

Notre Dame JV wins

Notre Dame's junior varsity claimed a 6-4 victory over New Madrid County Central.

The JV Bulldogs (6-1) got three hits and two RBS from Scott Eftink, who also earned a save. Andrew DePeder added two hits while Timmy Wencewicz was the winning pitcher.
