Week Report: It's hard to imagine any baseball player on any level having a better week than Kolwyck did last week. The junior center fielder hit five home runs -- in consecutive at-bats -- knocked in 14 runs and had provided game-winning hits in going 10 for his last 12 in three-plus games. During that span, the Hawks defeated three strong opponents. They knocked off St. Vincent, one of the state's best 1A schools, then downed Portageville. Later they finished off Notre Dame in an extra-inning game that was called due to darkness a few weeks ago. Kolwyck doubled and later scored the winning run in that game. On Friday, Kelly wrapped up the week with a 3-2 win over Chaffee.

Season Report: Through Kelly's win over Chaffee last Friday, Kolwyck was batting .549 with eight homers, 25 runs batted in 16 runs scored. His on-base percentage is near .700 and his slugging percentage is hovering around the 1.500 mark. His 25 RBIs are almost twice that of any of his teammates and his eight home runs (4.25 at-bats per homer) are the most in the area. Kolwyck and the Hawks are 10-2 and are poised to take the first seed in the upcoming district tournament.

Coach's Comments: "We knew he was a talent," Scott said. "He hit .391 for us last year, but he's taken it to the next level with effort and hard work. He stays late to take batting practice and to take fly balls. Sometimes he even takes ground balls just in case he would ever have to come in to play infield."
