Cape Girardeau Central High School's girls soccer team established a new single-season record for victories as the Lady Tigers routed visiting Poplar Bluff 8-0 Thursday.

The Lady Tigers, now 21-1-2, broke the record which was set last year.

Scoring two goals for Cape Central were Amber Voerg and Lorie Bittle, while Amanda Hiler, Jennifer Daume, Corey Nunnally and Kim Aslinger netted one apiece.

Daume and Rebecca Hellrich each recorded two assists, followed by Voerg and Aslinger with one each.

Goalkeeper Heather Hey recorded her 14th shutout of the season.

Central's junior varsity won 2-0. Kaytie Hawkins netted both goals.

The Lady Tigers close out the regular season today at Hillsboro.

Notre Dame 7, Farmington 1

FARMINGTON -- Notre Dame clinched its best-ever season since beginning the program four years ago.

Cyndi Cox, Nicole Passini, Stephanie Miller, Jill Edwards, Janelle Glosemeyer, Michelle Hency and Courtney Vickery all scored a goal as the Lady Bulldogs ended ther regular season at 12-10-2.

Edwards and Emily Worley both had two assists while Caitlin Kelly and Vickery each had one assist.

Notre Dame's JV romped 9-1. Becky Lingle scored three goals while Tracy Kluesner, Jessica Summary and Holly Montgomery each had two.

St. Vincent 1, De Soto 0

DE SOTO -- St. Vincent's Jessica Lakenan scored the game's lone goal as the Squaws concluded their regular season with a .500 record.

Lakenan's unassisted goal came with six minutes left in the first half. St. Vincent enters Saturday's Class 1A-3A, District 1 opener against St. Pius with an 8-8 record.

BASEBALL

Kelly 9, Kennett 5

BENTON -- Kelly improved to 18-4 on the season with a come-from-behind victory.

The Hawks trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth, but Vince Elkins hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and John Welter provided an RBI single which gave Kelly the lead for good.

Jim Hulshof (5-0) picked up the win in seven innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and four walks. He fanned three.

Jason Glastetter was 1-for-1 with a two-run homer. He also walked three times and finished with three RBIs.

Brad Kolwyck and Jamie Essner were both 2-for-3 with a double apiece.

Hulshof was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Sikeston 3, Jackson 0

SIKESTON -- Tory Meyr had three of Jackson's four hits as the Indians fell short of the team seeded first in the upcoming district tournament.

Chris Schlick suffered the tough-luck loss, going seven innings and giving up one earned run on 10 hits. He fanned six and walked none.

"He pitched good enough to win, we just didn't hit," Jackson coach Sam Sides said. "That's the way things have been going this year -- we'll get good pitching, but we don't hit or play good defense. Then we'll hit well, but our pitching will be off."

Sikeston scored one run in the first, fourth and sixth innings.

Oran 21, East Prairie 1

EAST PRAIRIE -- Oran had clinched an outright Scott-Mississippi Conference title Tuesday when Kelly lost to Scott City.

But the Eagles made sure they didn't back into the championship as they crushed East Prairie in five innings to finish league play at 8-0. Oran is 16-5 overall.

Dustin Glastetter pitched all five innings as he improved to 9-2. He allowed a home run to the first batter he faced but finished with a four-hitter, fanning six and walking none.

Oran scored 13 runs in the fifth inning, getting a grand slam from Glastetter and a homer from Garrett Cook.

Adam Friga had three of Oran's 15 hits. Glastetter, Ryan Dennis, Billy Loper and Chris Nichols all added two hits. Dustin Dannenmueller and Loper each had three RBIs.

GOLF

Jefferson County Conference Tournament

BONNE TERRE -- St. Vincent's golf team took first place in the Jefferson County Conference Tournament with a team score of 325, while Perryville finished third behind Hillsboro with a 338 on the par-72 Terre-Du-Lac.

St. Vincent's Craig Schumer scored a 76 for first place, three strokes better than the runner up.

The top 15 golfers were named to the all-conference team. From St. Vincent, Ryan Prost finished sixth with an 82; John Paulus shot an 83 for seventh and Ben Favier tied for ninth with an 84.

Derek Cattoor and Andy Tanz shot 84s for Perryville.
