COLUMBIA -- The St. Vincent golf team shot a 332 in the second round of the Class 1A state tournament, taking third place with a total score of 662.

The Indians, who finished first in state last year, finished 14 strokes behind second-place Viburnum and 27 strokes behind Gallatin, the state champ.

St. Vincent sophomore Jon Paulus shot a second-round 76 on the par-70 A.L. Gustin Golf Course, good enough to earn him a spot among the state medalists with a total score of 158. He was in a three-way tie for 13th place. Only the top 15 earn all-state honors.

Another St. Vincent sophomore, Craig Schumer, was three strokes off the all-state list. He shot an 82 in the second round. Ryan Prost and Dusty Cattoor each shot an 87, while Ben Favier shot an 89 for St. Vincent in the second round.

In Class 2A golf action, Notre Dame freshman Tim Buerck shot a 91 on the par-72 Columbia Country Club to give him a two-round total of 180. Notre Dame sophomore Nick Martin shot an 87 in the second round for a combined total of 184.

Perryville finished 14th at state in the Class 3A state tournament at the par-70 Sedalia Country Club.

Perryville senior Derek Cattoor shot a 77 in the second round to give him a total of 165. Also from Perryville, senior Ryan Besand shot an 84 in the second round for a score of 167, while Nathan Rellergert shot a 95 for a total of 193 and Andy Tanz shot a 99 for a 191

In the Class 4A state tournament at the par-72 Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Jackson's Gabe Estes shot a 90 in the second round to finish at 175.
