Jackson 1, Poplar Bluff 0

JACKSON -- Poplar Bluff, after being beat by Jackson 6-0 last week, took a defensive approach Tuesday, nearly pulling off an upset of Jackson in a Class 4A, District 1 semifinal.

Jackson's Julie Wunderlich scored the game's only goal midway through the first half.

"They had about 10 people playing defense," Jackson coach Bonnie Knowlan said. "Their coach is a good coach. He made us work for every shot and they played an extremely different game than what we saw last week. He made a real good decision for his team."

Jackson (15-7-2) got 15 shots off, while Poplar Bluff managed just one.
